Trans Pride: A Higher Cause (Poetry) – Nina

I am…

The Type of writer who lites fires with typewriters.

Trans pride; n its a quite higher:

cause.

Despite my minor flaws I write because.

I’m…

Inspired by role models and not cold bottles.

No more sorrow.

I’m trans and…

Trans transgender pride; my gender why?

In splendor I; am utterly myself.

Selfishly no; selfless by being oneself with.

All that I can and possibly will.

If I didn’t; I’d probably be ill.

Although it really needs no commentary.

On the contrary I still see a bigots daily

I’m doing fine but I can imagine somewhere out there…

Someone is terrified of being themselves

I see this clearly.

Now a common occurring; non obscuring event.

I present myself to the world plus my 2 cents.

Have a conscience; discriminatory nonsense.

Happiness lays around the corner for many.

Plenty if we; could set an example and

Simply be free.

Buddhism and The Dharma: Freedom and Responsibility — Great Middle Way

To be free, in the worldly and the spiritual sense, it is essential to accept full responsibility for our thoughts, words, and deeds; recognize that it is impossible to avoid the consequences of our previous acts; and establish the necessary causes for our happiness. Subordination to others —no matter how good and saintly they may […]

Skating, Photography and Sobriety

Sobriety has left me with a serious amount of time on my hands and at first I saw it as a burden (because I’m an idiot) but have now realized it’s a great blessing for me to peruse anything I want. I don’t have many friends in the City anymore for various reasons but that just leaves me with even more freedom; not having to please anyone or be urged into getting back into drugs and alcohol. It feels really good to be writing this right now because I can see a version of me; she is happy and free.

I’m feeling extremely positive, leaving the depression behind me and conquering the anxiety. One thing I’m excited about is skating, I went and got my skateboard re-gripped yesterday and am dreaming of all the concrete possibilities. I started skateboarding back when I was 6 years old after my next door neighbors held a block party with a half pipe. My curiosity led my parents to allow me complete freedom with my skate, turning the steep hills of my neighborhood to race tracks for adrenaline chasing little kids like me and my friends. Skateboarding never left my life, I’ve fractured my knee and tore my ACL skating so I’m cautious but it didn’t stop me or slow me down. I’ve been skating the park down the street a few times since we moved into this new place; it’s an odd one but I’m so Damn thankful it’s there.

Another passion of mine I have more time to persue is photography and film. I’m not really sure what to tell you about that other than that I live in an extremely beautiful and diverse city in Vancouver; so even a day of just strolling around with my camera could be a great day in itself.

The weather forecast for the next week is hot and sunny.

Wish me luck.

In my cell… – Nina

The door closes behind me*

6 x 6 walls

with a Plastic Bed

Steel toilet

For some…

This is the last stop

Souls pass through here often

Cold and lonesome

Time is a killer

Daunting me

Then I remembered…

Freedom isn’t “Out There,”.

It’s “In here.”…

My spirit rising

Lifting

No one can see my smile

Nobody knows that I closed my eyes

Left this place

The cell is quiet…

Dead

But not me.

I’m Free

And “You” can be free

anytime.

Anytime…

A Transgender Note – Nina

I don’t feel as though being transgender as a burden, to me it’s a blessing. Many gods, goddesses and spiritual guides were intersex or changed gender over time. Some aboriginal tribes in north America had a name for it centuries ago ” 2 spirit ”

Although unacceptable in Muslim and Christian faiths I am neither. In Buddhism they regard it as your spiritual qualities from your past life arising in your present. I do not need validation from anyone or anything to be myself.

Countries around the world need to show basic human rights, laws protecting trans people across the world. I see suffering in the trans community from an ignorant world without conscious mind on human spirituality and science.

I am a proud transgender woman urging you to be whatever you want to be. Manifest yourself a brighter future in regards to your identity. You need not a label nor a piece of paper. You need not to be understood by all.

But you need to be yourself,

Love Nina

I watch the skyline slide by/ I’m on transit,

my style they can’t Hack it.

Trans girl

sit sideways out the phrame.

My pen got game so I have no shame.

Jungle to jungle. Throwies.

The train rumbles.

I write on my pad ride through the mass mumble.

Slapped mad styles,

I don’t get caught no more

A bold soldier.
I don’t consider this place to be Canada.

That’s criminal.
It’s aboriginal so I believe my laws are more applicable.

I can’t see myself other ways other self.
police can’t change me, I’m reppin till my deff.
