Milarepa’s Dharma Song

Superior beings need the Dharma.

Without it, they are like lofty eagles

𑁋even though perched on the highest mountain tops,

they exist only to service their pride.

Average beings have need of the Dharma.

Without it, they are like snarling tigers

𑁋though possessing great power and courage,

they are obsessed only with their hunger.

OṂ ĀḤ GURU HASAVAJRA SARVASIDDHI HŪṂ

Inferior beings need the Dharma.

Without it, they are like sturdy mules

𑁋though they grasp countless possessions,

no wisdom or merit do they carry.

Beautiful beings have need of the Dharma.

Without it, they smile vacant and lovely,

always caring about appearances.

In time their illusory beauty fades.

OṂ ĀḤ GURU HASAVAJRA SARVASIDDHI HŪṂ

Older beings have need of the Dharma.

Without it, they are like old leaning trees.

Younger beings have need of the Dharma.

Without it, they are like a charging bull.

All children have need of the Dharma.

Without it, they will meet wrong views.

Every being has need of the Dharma.

Without it, we are blossomless trees.

OṂ ĀḤ GURU HASAVAJRA SARVASIDDHI HŪṂ

Those who want to live with meaning

should practice the Buddha’s teaching.

REST – Via: Great Middle Way

Rest like space, in vast empty clarity.

Rest like the sun, self-clarity without fixation.

Rest like the ocean, clear and still.

Rest like a mountain, motionless, and unchanging.

Rest in a state of empty clarity, brilliant and crystal clear.

Rest in a state of natural stillness, relaxed, free, and at ease.

Rest in a state of unreality, blank, illusory, open clarity.

Rest in a state of reality itself, expansive and all-pervasive.

Rest in a state of natural presence, empty and still.

Rest in a state without root: don’t think, concentrate, be distracted, or meditate.

𑁋Longchenpa, Three Statements That Strike the Vital Point

Focus. Sit inside the lotus. Monkey and Mindful.

Its good day for mindfulness plus unwind-full-bliss.

Nothing to find, no eye, no thought of shh… persists.

Remain focused! Dont let the monkey mind escape the lotus.

Come back monkey! You thought I wouldn’t notice!

Now have a seat. Breathe in. Breathe out. Repeat.

Recite these mantras, escape away with me.

Give me yer hand. Off to the pure land.

Mindful and monkey together… To serve the world now…

A meditation poem.

Each breath is a blessing, Resting your mind

Calming you and guiding you with ease

Every moment is taken with awareness of all sensations

Let the daily tasks of life become ones meditation

Always aware and returning to a breath of peace

If hungry? Eat. If tired? Sleep. Simplify life

For example… What possessions do we truly need?

To question is zen… To question is mindfulness

Ask yourself why one would cling to worldly possessions

But let not a possession cloud ones mind either

Return to your breath upon every reflection

To let go of ones worldly attachments will end the suffering

With everything being impermanent, why attach?

Choosing to move on with mindfulness and peace

Think of others and what you may have to offer them for their needs

A childhood saying… Do unto others what you wish done unto you

And after that thought, we return to the breath once again…

In… and out…

Focusing on the breath, let your thoughts come and go,

Do not dwell on them

Let the thought go…

In… and out…

Samsara or nirvana

The Buddhist tibetan prayer flags on the top of mountain in Daocheng, Sichuan Province, Tibet of China.

I dream of the promise land; where peace abides

Mountains streamline across the sky

Prayer flags cross the trails on my path to freedom

I am given help along my jouney

Compassion for all the sentient beings on earth

This is my path and it was always meant for me

Rebirth; Samsara

Or a heavenly Nirvana

Buddha poem

Eyes transfixed on Buddha

I chant in Sanskrit

Return to center and emit a white light

Transmit across the atlas

Slow my breathing

Completely enveloped in my practice

Place the candles lit

Offerings for the path I follow

Bowing to them; I’m very thankful

For yesterday, today, tommorow

Close my eyes and listen

My karmatic conditions

Meditating a vision

Peace, love and forgiveness

Now; did I inherit

My past lifes merit

I feel blessed; until my death

I must share it

Thank you universe

Thank you for my buddha nature

Thank you for food and shelter

Thank you for now;

Thank you for later.

Sobriety

Sobriety was something I had previously thought to be unattainable; the anxiety of life too much to bear without substance, without alcohol. I needed it for almost anything and usually there was no stopping me from obtaining it; and always wanting more. A vicious cycle of dependence which could not be broken. Thank god I was wrong.

I am currently 8 months sober and the benefits have reached and blessed every aspect of life. I have less anxiety, less illnesses, less arguments, less confusion, less injury, less financial burdens and I could go on forever. Most importantly I have accepted buddha and my sobriety go hand in hand on this path that I have chosen.

There are so many ways to conquer demons of which used to control my life. Im finding myself in meditation everywhere I go and every day that I stay. It is very important for my day to day balance to practice the teachings of various meditations and perhaps my writings can lead others to finding a healthier balance in life regardless of religious belief or path.

Thats all for now.

Love Nina
