She lays beside my soul

Staring up at the stars in immaculate glory

She makes the days complete

And nights serene

She makes the run rise in the sky

And her intellect makes me question why

As I sit Listening to Bob Marley

I wonder where my lighter is

And ignore the dirty dishes for now

Laughing at the train bombing video where an artist stops painting…

Dumbfounded at god knows what

I’m kind of cold right now

My landlord shut off my heat to save money

Now he’s paying for my oven to be on for half the day

My album of choice is Exodus

Due to that particular song I read that chapter of the Bible

Just to see where he’s coming from

Just for Bob.

GoodnightNina – Slam Poetry Over J Dilla “Are you listening?”

Are you really listening, can you hear the clock ticking?

Time keeps turning weather you stagnant or persisting.

Sun rise; glistening, can you hear the birds singing?

Sight to the blind. Tell me are you really listening?

Every day we wake up; play the rules; It aint a game.

Some win and some lose; and when you lose it aint the same.

You had something to lose but now you got everything to gain.

Start back from the beginning and try this shit again.

Playing by some different rules now; and put it down another way.

No one wants to struggle; but we all wanna’ maintain.

Struggling to survive; wake up and do it all again.

Are you really listening, your heart and what it says?

Would you do your yesterdays today?

If you had the choice; would you have lived it in a different way?

Like… seeing it at another angle;

A better handle

Hands of time around your throat;

We all getting strangled….

I write upon the walls of time, my chisel chipping.

Hieroglyphics of my mind.

Tell me.

Are you listening?
