GoodnightNina  – Who knew? Transitioning ; Slam Poetry

I was always picked last in sports, I laugh at being picked last

because they saw past what I could; not even…

Recognise in the first place, never did I see first place in sports

But I took up a new gender like sports, wait…

Lets reverse pace; I was picked last because perhaps

They knew before I knew I knew I was a girl, I knew I was a girl?

Did I twirl? Was that the give-away?

I remember once I was told I look like one. Twelve; Dumbfounded

Delve into childhood, Perhaps That was the time I began to find myself…

I’m not sure… What I am sure of,

Is I can never be sure of damn near anything

Other than my decision to transition, that meant everything.

It wasn’t hard to transition at all.

It was hard to pretend to be a man like fraud (((guilty as charged))) 🙂 !!

-Pause-

Serious shit…

I feel complete sorrow, for all those that can’t transition tomorrow

This god damn world, I’m lucky as fuck.

Its called hormone replacement therapy;

And it worked wonders for my clarity

Anyone against transgender rights can spare me

“Beware the”

Powers of hatred in the world

Us girls got it hard sometimes; That scares me

Ive survived a lot

Extremely thankful, to be doing different things for a bankroll

Write a little rhyme thats tasteful.

Thank God….

Break from poetry back to art day one: A portrait of a young Buddha.

My girlfriend found a big shelf in the alley months ago and looked at me. “Nina you should draw something on this”.

Why not? – I thought; recycled art is right up my alley. My mom had requested that I paint her a portrait of Buddha for her recently purchased home.

I had forgotten this massive shelf awaiting for me in the closet until a few days ago when I decided that ITS RETURN OF THE ARTS. And… I decided to do a speed painting.

Paint your subject as fast as you possibly can! This was the result of my speed painting and although it is far too large for my mother’s liking. Buddha can watch over me from his shrine in my living room.

I love what I created.

Time for a break; Away from poetry and into traditional art media! – Nina

unnamed-1

Ive been blogging for 10 months and its been a blast writing articles, poetry and journaling but I have been starting to miss spending my spare time painting and sketching. I am exited to dedicate the months leading up to summer painting the things in life that inspire me.

I find inspiration from so many things; buddhism, graffiti, anime and my traditional native art to; painting portraits or abstract art and it is truly just as gratifying as writing a heartfelt poem or blog post. I’m happy to return to the sketchbook, wood, canvas and sometimes the concrete.

I spent a short portion today painting a large portrait of buddha and I loved it!

Im happy to keep it moving!

Care to join me?
